Soldier on

The soldier walked and stumbled on he shouted out that he had been shot and everyone heard but what could they do?
Reversives and exits they ran from the fire engulfing their friend for what could they do his skin was still charred, his skin was still marred, his skin was all black and flaking off like autumn leaves churned up by feet on a well-walked street
And what could they do but walk with their five feet away to a warm life of illumination and scholastic endeavour
with a bitter hospital member of the cheese-oven faces they saw
of the brother father son faces
of the sucker-punched youth faces
And they spend a life running I think, hopping hurdles of horses that fell
Guts spilled cus failed alliances are the death of the internation and the blood spilled is soaked up by documentation
And the coffee phlegm phantasm sits in the office, stuck to the chair, stuck in the air
Is a mustard gas hazure that smells of bad breath let out while the screaming
Rings sour in the air.
